That one in the mountains is astonishing. I find the plant material is what draws me in the most in these pictures. I guess that's no surprise. I like the one you're working on now the best because of the shady woodland feel.
Hi Chuck,
I like the outdoor family project in the mountains too.
It is located in the Squaw Valley Village and overlooks some of the ski runs.
I am hoping to get up to Squaw this summer so that I can properly photograph this project.
Last year when we were building it, we barely finished before the first snow of the season blew in !
The project that we are just about finished working on currently is in Napa Valley.
The surrounding garden under the redwood trees was a landscape that I planted about 17 years ago.
It felt great to work in a garden that I knew what was planted and when and then to see it with 17 years of growth on it .
I found a rare rare Dove tree ( Davidia involucrata) at Sonoma Horticultural nursery 17 years ago and planted it in the front entry garden.
When we started the new phase of the project this last past May it was in full bloom and gave me a tremendous amout of pleasure to see it covered with white dove like blooms.
That's a nice tree--the Davida. The only one I've ever seen is in Strybing.
