A new project is about to begin.
Let’s get dirty.
Construction bids are in, final decisions are being made and ground, or should I say sand is about to be broken.
A new garden at the beach is about to take shape. Wooohooo ! ( can you tell this slow economy has gotten to me ! )

The interesting aspect of this project is that we are going to be using a seeded lawn instead of sod.
This seed is from Wildflower Farm and is called their Eco- Lawn mix.
It is said to require no fertilization, is extremely drought tolerant , and very low maintenance.
I’ll be documenting its installation and growth habit as the project progresses.

I love that you are taking us along from the very beginning. It will be so much fun to watch it develop into a paradise! This economy so sucks....
Ooh, congratulations! I love momentum on projects. This grass seed is quite intriguing as I'm considering using a red fescue lawn on my latest garden. Do keep us posted!

Good luck with the eco-lawn - I had mixed results with it here in Toronto and never had a project look as good as the Wildflower Farms demonstration field, possibly because clients were impatient for that 'grown in' look and the seed required a bit more pampering than I had anticipated. I'm eagerly awaiting your progress and anticipated success with it in California.

Hm, considering a very small seeded lawn and wanted to do an "herbal" one but am not sure which seed mix to pick. Just a postage stamp for my kiddo to poke her toes in, where a gravel and rose bush fussiness from previous owner now stands. Not going to happen until next spring so will be curious to see your results!
