PINK

Pink is a color that I am not terribly fond of.
At all costs I try to avoid this color in my garden, in my house and especially in my clothing
( as a red head pink does nothing but make me look like a ripening tomato)
But when a client loves pink, to the point that she paints her house pink, well then a designer has to do what a designer has to do when asked to design a pink blooming garden.

Timely. I just plants seven lorapetalum in the front yard. It's nice to see what they'll look like once mature.

I guess we all have our preferences with color. Hard to avoid pink, isn't it?

I'm with you on that awful color, but you did do a great job with that assignment! I like the clipped bushes the most.

Pink just has so much baggage. Love the pink crescent. If you're going to HAVE TO use a color you might as well go for it.

I've never seen so much pink in my entire life!

Thats a lotta' pink! I'm not a pink thinker either. Some spring bleeding hearts and a few tulips seem to sate any interest in pink. Although once every two years my crabapple tree blooms pink for about three weeks and it's a sight to behold. Gotta' admit I look forward to that.

Amazing loropetalums. I never see them looking that happy in So. Calif. Judging by the photos, you made your client very happy.

My Mother was the Queen of Pink, the house I grew up in had pink walls and a pink bathroom (even the toilet was pink!)Pink counter tops with outlines of boomerangs on them in black and turquoise. and a pink front door. So I can understand the adversion. But I like pink flowers, just not all of them pink. I dislike gold more than pink. unless its 24 carat, it just looks cheap...

Sometimes I think we all like colors according to what we actually feel good wearing. I do like pink but I like it mixed with other colors too.

Oh I love those Lorapetalum! I'm not much of a designer when it comes to gardening. We don't have a lot of pink in our garde, but it does tend to look like a kaliedescope threw up in it. LOL--Randy

Funny how things change as you age—I used to hate pink and other pastels, like light blue. But since I've let my formerly brunette hair go silver I now find that these are "my colors" (for clothing at least). Guess I'm on my way to becoming one of those little old ladies with blue hair!
