Drought Solution

I have a very small lawn area in my front yard.
It is a parched yellow 10 x 20 foot area right now.
I've been rationing my water use. The small amount of water that I use has been dedicated to my front yard perennial border and my back yard which consists of sub-tropicals and succulents.

I think I am going to bite the bullet and install a faux lawn.

I've installed them for several clients whose situation was perfect for an artificial lawn and now after some introspective thought, I feel my small flat area is perfect for one.

Our local water department is willing to chip in some dough if we rip out our lawns.
I'm going to give them a call and start the ball rolling.

Below is an artificial lawn by ForeverLawn . They generously provided this replica lawn when I did the S.F. Garden Show.
I will most likely do business with them.

Anyone else have a good candidate/ site specific area for a faux lawn ?

Beautiful faux lawn, it looks like a real one. I think if a property was in the market for a while and no one taking care of the lawn, possible this will be a good solution, instead of painting the grass green like it showed on the TV news.

Oh this is going to be very interesting! I can't wait to learn more about your project and what you learn along the way! I like the idea but I just don't think I could do it.

I have used this pretend grass. Its in circles of various sizes in my small front garden. Perfect solution for low rainfall areas, low maintenance and lush looking all year round. The curve works really well.

I have a small lawn area off our patio, partly under a large live oak. It is the natural gathering area when shade is desired (often here!). There is an ages-old lawn that is trying to look nice, but as the tree grows, the lawn gets less and less sun - so it's looking pretty sad. Short of constant (expensive) tree trimming, I see faux lawn as the perfect solution. I also raise dogs, so need a place for puppies to play occasionally. The wonderful people at Forever Lawns said it will work. It's not cheap, but? I was on that lawn at the SF Garden Show and was amazed how real it looked and felt! Can't wait to see and hear about your ForeverLawn.
